In fact, as long as the engine water temperature does not alarm, we don't have to worry, because the engine needs a certain temperature to work normally.

In fact, high or low engine temperature itself is very contradictory. High temperature can shorten the service life of some parts, while low temperature has a greater impact on the engine. We can understand it from three aspects

1. Thermal efficiency

When the fuel burns in the cylinder, the temperature is very high, and the heat will be transferred from the high temperature object to the low temperature object. The greater the temperature difference is, the more heat is transferred. When the engine temperature is too low, more heat generated by fuel combustion will be transferred to the engine. As a result, the heat that should be used for work is wasted, and the thermal efficiency of the engine will be reduced.

2. Emissions

If the engine temperature is too low during the flame propagation, it will be easy to extinguish when the flame spreads to the edge of the combustion chamber when it encounters the relatively cold combustion chamber wall, resulting in insufficient combustion of the mixture, deterioration of the exhaust gas, and the hydrocarbon content in the exhaust gas will exceed the standard.

3. Lubrication

Good lubrication is indispensable for engine operation, and the fluidity of lubricating oil is closely related to temperature. When the temperature is too low, the fluidity of lubricating oil becomes worse. On the one hand, it will increase the pump oil loss of oil pump, on the other hand, it will also affect the speed of oil circulation lubrication.

So the engine is not the colder the better, but should work at a suitable temperature. We should always pay attention to the indicator light of the instrument panel in our daily car. If the water temperature alarm light is on, it means that the engine temperature is too high. At this time, we can't move forward. If the water temperature alarm light is not on, we don't need to worry too much.
